The stock guard is good but can limit cooling in traffic or slow riding. Before KTM introduced their version I made this one up with a simple piece of perforated stainless sheet which I welded tabs to. Cut to the correct size spring tension and two bolts are all that is needed to keep it in place and it's more than burly enough. So far cooling seems to only be marginally improved. I think a better option might be to simply cut out the outer fins of the stock guard to aid cooling but this is working fine for now. You could fabricate something similar with any sort of mesh screen cut to fit. |
